I'm Audrey Oakes and I provide telehealth OCD therapy for kids, teens, and young adults across the states of Pennsylvania and Texas. I am based out of Finleyville, Pennsylvania.

I am passionate about helping young people learn how to navigate life with OCD and help them go from chaos to calm. My goal is to create a welcoming and trusting environment where you can talk openly about your intrusive thoughts while gaining skills to help you disengage from those thoughts.

It can take years for individuals to get an OCD diagnosis and correct treatment for it. It’s my hope this practice will help bridge the gap between the onset of symptoms for those struggling with OCD and getting them the tools they need to live freely in the present moment. I offer a unique perspective as a clinician who has OCD herself and treats it professionally. I bring professional expertise and genuine understanding to this work.

I previously worked in a pediatric OCD IOP clinic where I gained extensive experience supporting children/teens and families navigating severe presentations of OCD. I believe working with families of children with OCD is especially important because OCD affects more than just the child and it often shapes family dynamics, routines, stress levels, and communication patterns. I ultimately want to help families build tools that reduce accommodation while maintaining connection and support.

I am a member of the IOCDF(International OCD Foundation) community, regularly attend their annual OCD conferences and had the privilege of leading three youth workshops at IOCDF events for teens in the past three years. I have completed an I-CBT training to treat OCD as well.

I use a mixture of ERP, I-CBT, and ACT based modalities to treat OCD. Below is more information regarding my use of them in the therapeutic process.

Modalities

  • Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

In therapy, you will learn to step out and face your fears in small steps. Exposure and Response Prevention is gold standard treatment for OCD as it helps individuals face their anxiety without engaging in OCD rituals. Including ERP in the therapeutic process will look like completing exposures in session and completing exposures during the week as assigned. This is collaborative and we will work together to identify ways to face the OCD.

  • Inference Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT)

I-CBT will help you disengage from the obsessional thoughts in your mind. As you learn how to identify the story OCD is making up, you will learn tools to disengage with the story OCD is telling you by engaging with the present moment. You will start to build greater trust in yourself, your senses, and your experiences instead of getting wrapped up in obsessional doubt.

  • Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT )

I use Acceptance Commitment Therapy to help you learn how to relate to your thoughts differently and learn to live despite OCD. As you establish your values, I will help you make committed steps towards those values as you learn how to navigate your obsessive thoughts without getting stuck in them. You will gain practical tools to help you manage your anxiety and create more separation from your thoughts so you can live freely!
